Volunteer Day at Audubon is April 18

Celebrate Earth Day by joining other volunteers and Audubon Community Nature Center staff, like Volunteer Coordinator Sharon Tefft, on Saturday, April 18. With tasks for all ages and abilities, this Volunteer Day is family-friendly, free and includes lunch.

JAMESTOWN – Residents are invited to celebrate Earth Day at Audubon Community Nature Center by joining staff and other volunteers to work on projects to maintain and improve the Nature Center building and grounds.

On Volunteer Day morning, Saturday, April 18, volunteers will split into groups to tackle different projects such as sprucing up the gardens, cleaning, grounds work, and more. This is a family-friendly event with something for all ages and abilities.

To register ahead of time, call the Nature Center at (716) 569-2345, or go online to auduboncnc.org/volunteer-day. While the program is free, click through check-out to complete your registration. Walk-ins the morning of the event are welcome.

Registration is from 9 to 9:15 a.m. Work parties tackle their jobs between 9:30 a.m. and noon. After all the hard work, you can stick around and celebrate your accomplishments by staying for lunch.

This event happens rain or shine, so dress for the weather and bring work gloves if you have them.

If there are other volunteer projects you would like to tackle – like gardening, mailing committee, buildings and grounds, or lending a hand at events – you can contact Volunteer Coordinator Sharon Tefft at (716) 569-2345 or STefft@AudubonCNC.org.

Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, N.Y., and Warren, Pa. You can visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, look in on the live birds of prey, enjoy the Natural Play Space, and hike the six miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free.

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals, the 2025 Nature Photography Contest winners, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1-4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT and Arts Access cardholders have free building admission daily.
