Outdoor Club
to hike Sunday
On Sunday, April 12, members of the Allegany Outdoor CLub will hike on part of the North Country Trail from the Longhouse trailhead off Route 321. The hike will be a loop of 4.5 miles. The first 1.5 miles are uphill. Some hiking will be on a logging road and a grassy area. Meet at Musante Street, Warren, at 1:30 p.m. Jim and Kim Berkey are the leaders.
County Fair
commemorative
bricks still available
The Warren County Fair board is reminding those still interested in placing an order for commemorative bricks that all orders must be received by April 30. Order forms can be found by visiting www.warrencountyfair.net under the information tab. Call 814-221-1423 for more information or questions. All proceeds benefit the fair improvement fund.
Elk Township
to hold spring cleanup
The annual spring clean- up day for Elk Township residents will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at the township’s maintenance garage. No oil, paint/liquid hazardous waste, mattresses, asbestos, fluorescent bulbs, propane tanks, computers, or yard waste will be accepted. Pick-up truck loads are $20, cars and vans are $10. TV’s and tires will be accepted at an added fee depending on the size. Residents may call the township office at 814-757-5818 for more information.
Conservation District
to hold workshop May 2
The Warren County Conservation District will host a workshop during Remake Learning Days titled “The Hidden Role of Fungi in the Forest.” The workshop will take place on May 2 from 10 a.m. to noon. Kyle Vanderhoof will be the speaker at the workshop explaining how fungi grows and establishes in different environments. He will be talking about saprophytic, mutualistic and parasitic fungi. At the end of the workshop, the group will take a short walk to see what fungi can be found. Register by calling 814-726-1441 or by emailing smoore@wcconservation.net by April 30.

winners announced
There was no Monday game at the YMCA. On Tuesday at the Woman’s Club, Jo Simonsen came in first and Peggy Morgan was second. Donna Holding placed first on Thursday at the Woman’s Club and Jo Simonsen was second.
