Editor to speak at Sunshine Week event on March 11

John D’Agostino, editor of the Times Observer newspaper in Warren, will speak on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, 207 Second Ave, Warren. D’Agostino will discuss his views on investigative journalism and presenting truth to the public in newspapers. He welcomes questions from the audience.

This Sunshine Week program is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Warren County (PA), and is open to the public at no charge.

Sunshine Week is a non-partisan, nationwide celebration of open records and open government. The Warren League has held programs related to this topic for approximately 11 years.

D’Agostino has worked in newspapers since he was 10. He began at his hometown paper the Finger Lakes Times in Geneva, N.Y., as a newspaper carrier and then worked in the circulation and production departments through high school. He went to the State University of New York at Fredonia and then began working as a reporter for the Finger Lakes Times.

Since then he has worked for The Leader in Corning, The Buffalo News, The Post-Journal in Jamestown, the OBSERVER in Dunkirk, Times Observer in Warren and the Adirondack Daily Enterprise in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. In addition to the Times Observer he is currently the editor for The Post-Journal and OBSERVER in Dunkirk.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that does not promote candidates or political parties but does take positions on certain issues following study.
