Check Out Hunger campaign begins at Tops
Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer serving New York, northern Pennsylvania, and western Vermont, is proud to launch this year’s Check Out Hunger campaign. The initiative will take place in all Tops stores from Sunday through Saturday, Feb. 7.
Tops’ annual Check Out Hunger campaign has raised nearly $6.8 million dollars for participating food banks, making a significant impact in the fight against food insecurity.
Food insecurity in Pennsylvania affects over 1.7 million residents, with significant disparities across urban and rural areas, and ongoing efforts are being made to address this critical issue.
“Our Team at Central Pennsylvania Food Bank extends our deep gratitude to Tops Markets for their unwavering commitment to helping our neighbors that are facing hunger. For over 23 years, Top’s Check Out Hunger campaign has brought vital funding to our mission and important awareness about food insecurity in our region,” said Joe Arthur VP/Development, for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. “With food insecurity having increased over 44% in our service territory over the last 2 years, the 2026 Check Out Hunger campaign is more important than ever. For every $1 received through this campaign, our Food Bank can provide 4 healthy meals. Thank you, Tops Markets and loyal customers, for your generous support.”
By participating in the Check Out Hunger campaign, community members can help make a difference. Simply tell your cashier at Tops that you’d like to support the campaign, and you can contribute $2, $3, or $5 or round up your change, to help provide food for local food banks.
“Eradicating hunger and supporting our neighbors in need is central to Tops’ mission,” said Ron Ferri, President, Tops Friendly Markets. “We are proud to stand behind this effort year after year.”
The following food banks will benefit from this year’s Check Out Hunger campaign: Food Bank of NW PA and Food Bank of Central PA as well as others in nearby states.
