The Struthers Library Theatre is ready to send the spooky season out in style.
Known for its architectural grandeur and rich history, the theatre also has been the site of spooky sounds over the years. That will all work in the theatre’s favor this week when it plays host to performances of The Woman In Black, adapted for the stage by Stephen Mallatratt from Susan Hill’s 1983 novel. The Woman in Black famously known for using just two actors and minimal set design to conjure a world of Victorian horror.
The Struthers Library Theater itself enhances the gothic mood which makes it the ideal setting for “The Woman in Black,” a play that focuses on powerful storytelling and sound design to create the building up of terror, which has made it a theatrical experience, like no other. Be advised that the production contains scenes of high tension and sudden scares, making it an unforgettable thriller.
The narrative along with theatrical illusions is performed by David Oberg and Ben Segel. Lago del Gatto is a new local production company, joining with the Struthers Library Theater, for its introductory production, run by Jeremy Jeziorski.
“This is a show that relies on atmosphere and imagination, and the historic Struthers Library Theatre is the perfect, genuinely spooky setting to bring this classic ghost story to life,” said director Emily Jeziorski. “This is a classic slow-burn gold standard of psychological horror and suspense. We invite audiences to step into this gorgeous theater and experience the suspense and terror firsthand. It’s the ultimate Halloween scare.”
