Walks and Talks
The Jefferson DeFrees Family Center will host its next “Wednesday Walks and Talks” on Oct. 9. The walk will start at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center at 10 a.m. and proceed to Crescent Park. Speakers will include members of the city’s comprehensive plan committee who will discuss the upcoming Fall Foliage Festival.
Toys for Tots sign-up
The first sign-up for Toys for Tots will be held on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. while the second signup will be Nov. 21, 22 and 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Children’s Social Security cards are required for sign-up. Sign-ups will be held at the Marine Corps League, 2355 Jackson Ave., Warren. This program is for Warren County residents only. The age limit is 16 and children can only be signed up by their parent or legal guardian. Only one application per child per family is permitted.
Gala reservations
The Warren County Democrats’ Harvest of Hope Gala reservation deadline is Thursday, Oct. 3. Information and reservations are available at warrendems.com. County Democrats are also holding a “Friendship Bracelets and Politics” event on Oct. 12 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brokenstraw Valley Winery. Participants will make friendship bracelets while discussing the issues. There is a $10 admission fee for those 21+. Those interested can sign up at warrendems.com.
Pine Grove cleanup is Oct. 12
Pine Grove will hold township cleanup day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 12, at the township garage. No oil, paint or liquid hazardous waste, propane tanks, yard waste, household garbage, tires, batteries or recyclable materials will be accepted. Driver’s licenses will be checked to verify township residency. The cost is $10 for cars and vans and $20 for pick-up trucks and trailers.
Caregiver Support Group to meet today
The next meeting of the Caregivers’ Support Group will be held today at 6 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 PA Ave., E., Warren. Use the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance to the Winger Room. Anyone interested in Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementia-related diseases and all caregivers are welcome to attend. Information from the Alzheimer’s Association will be available, as well as a lending library with books regarding the actual care of those with the disease. Watson Township
cleanup is Saturday
Watson Township will hold its fall clean-up day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the township community building. The cost is $10 per vehicle load. No hazardous materials, propane tanks, batteries, solvents, wood or televisions will be accepted. Other electronics are accepted.Tires are accepted starting at $2.50 per tire; they must be clean from all debris.
