Unemployment rate steady in Warren County
The unemployment held steady in Warren County in July
The seasonally-adjusted rate sits at 3.4 percent, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Center for Workforce Information and Analysis released last week.
The rate was at 3.2 percent in July 2023.
Warren County’s rate is tied for the lowest in the region.
Rates for Bradford and Erie were 3.7 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively, 5.0 percent in Forest County, 3.4 percent in Meadville and 3.8 percent in Oil City.
Warren County came in on par with the state unemployment rate of 3.4 percent but below the federal unemployment rate. That rate held at 4.3 percent from June to July.
Locally, the data shows decreases in several job sectors.
According to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics at the U.S. Department of Labor, seasonal adjustment “is a statistical technique that attempts to measure and remove the influences of predictable seasonal patterns to reveal how employment and unemployment changes from month-to-month.”
“These seasonal adjustments make it easier to observe the cyclical, underlying trend and other nonseasonal movements in the series,” making it possible to compare month-to-month.
