LIBRARY NEWS
(a) Job Fair @ YPL: Monday, August 19th from 10 am – 1:00 pm there will be a JOB FAIR located at the Youngsville Public Library. The Job Fair is being presented by Infinity Resources and PA Careerlink. There are multiple job openings with a diverse group of manufacturing facilities and institutional housekeeping. Temp-to-hire positions. Immediate openings.
Infinity Resources also offers free transportation to some of the jobs being offered at this Job Fair. Training is available and there are immediate openings. PA Careerlink will also be there to assist with resume writing or other job-related needs. This is a great Job Fair for anyone who is new to the job-market or for those who wish to explore what training opportunities are available.
(b) CareerLink options: PA CareerLink staff offer free help to any PA resident that needs assistance with job searches, resumes/cover letters, and also can help you gain access to over 6,000 free job-related courses for both personal enrichment and/or to increase your job-related skill sets. A PA CareerLink Staff member is at the Youngsville Public Library (100 Broad Street) the third Monday of each month from 10 am – noon, to offer you free help and guidance.
PA CareerLink staff also visits the other independent libraries located within Warren County each month to offer one-on-one assistance and workshops. They are at Sheffield Library the 1st Tuesday of each month from 10 am – 11 am. On the 2nd Tuesday of each month they are at Sugar Grove Free Library from 12:30 pm- 1:30 pm and then at Tidioute Library from 3:45 pm- 4:45 pm. You can also meet with PA CareerLink staff at the Warren Public Library each Monday from 10 am – 3 pm.
(c) Free iphone/ipad help: date correction: Wednesday, August 21st from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm is Youngsville Library’s monthly “WiFi Wednesday” program. Get FREE one-on-one troubleshooting help with your cell phone, tablet, or laptop. No appointment needed, this is a very casual program where you can come in and ask for some guidance/help using your iPhone, android, tablet, laptop or other electronic device. This is a great opportunity for everyone – beginner to the more advanced user. WiFi Wednesday is offered the third Wednesday of each month at the Youngsville Public Library (100 Broad Street).
MISCELLANEOUS NEWS
(a) Thursday Bingo: Weekly “Bar-Bingo” night is each Thursday at the Youngsville American Legion (10 N. Main St). Bingo starts at 6 pm, Kitchen now opens at 4:30 pm on Thursdays. No smoking allowed at Youngsville American Legion from 5 pm – 9 pm on these weekly Bar-Bingo nights. Bar-bingo is a formal term for this weekly fundraising event and is not intended to imply that bingo participants are required to sit near or at the Legion bar area.
(b) Free Luncheon: Free Outreach Luncheon at Hessel Valley Church (166 Hessel Valley Road, Chandlers Valley) on Wednesday, August 21st starting at 11:30 am. This luncheon is open to the public and all are welcome. Menu: pulled pork, macaroni & potato salad, baked beans, pistachio salad, chips, homemade desserts, and beverages.
(c) Breakfast Location Change: The YHS Class of 1969 Reunion Breakfast location for Saturday, August 17th has been changed to the Youngsville American Legion (10 N. Main St) at 10:00 am.
(d) YFMChurch outreach: The following events/activities are sponsored by the Yngs Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street), for more information visit their website: ybfree.org or contact the Church Office at 814-563-9009.
(a) Hospital Ministry- Do you have a loved one currently in the hospital, nursing home or who is homebound? YFMChurch has a ministry team who would like to keep in touch and stay connected with them. There is a form located at the Welcome Center in the church Lobby. Fill it out & drop it off at the church office or contact Tom Brown at 814-730-1278 for information.
(b) Food Pantry outreach- In an effort to support members of the community experiencing hardship, YFMChurch partners with Second Harvest Feeding America Program. The food distribution is open to ALL members of the community. Food distribution at the YFMChurch is the First & Third Wednesday of each month from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm and Fridays from 10 am – until gone. Please use the Marsh Avenue Entrance to access the Food Pantry. No early admittance, please adhere to the times listed. Limit 1 (one) bag per household. Food items will vary depending on availability of goods weekly. Please note you may only attend once per week, to ensure maximum outreach for our community members. However, you can stop in anytime during our “off hours” to see what is available, please take only what you need.
(c)Breakfast Fellowship – The YFMChurch meets for a Fellowship Breakfast on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 8:00 am, location Station 61 Restaurant. All are welcome to attend for a short devotional and fellowship time Call the Church office for details. Next date August 20th, summertime dates vary.
(d) Volunteering opportunities – YFMChurch has an amazing group of volunteers who go above and beyond every day. Please consider joining our team of volunteers is one or more of the following ministry areas: Children’s Ministry/Nursery, Youth Ministry, Worship- drummers urgently needed, Welcome Center Hosts (in need of someone ASAP to fill in every 3rd Sunday at both services for summer and someone to fill in at the 11 am service each Sunday), Greeters, and Food Ministry (help with unpacking food items, and drivers. Drivers need to be able to pull a food trailer. Volunteer forms can be found on the bulletin board in the lobby or on our website. Completed forms turn in at the church office.
(e) FREE Neighbor Day: Saturday, August 17th from 11:30 am – 6:00 pm the Pittsfield Otterbein GMC is hosting a Free “Neighbor Day” event (258 Dalrymple Street, Pittsfield). Bring your family and friends anytime during this event. Enjoy some picnic food. Games for adults and children. There will be live music and giveaways. This event is FREE and all are welcome to attend. Come and have some fun.
(f) Diaper Depot – Join us at Erie Family Center’s new office for a free Diaper Depot distribution event (113 West Smith St. Corry, PA). Learn about programs offered and enjoy refreshments too. (g) Bingo Bash- Save the Date: Saturday, September 28th the Garland VFD is having a Big Bingo Bash at the Garland Fire Hall (31 Bailey Lane, Garland). Doors open at 5 pm, Bingo starts at 6:30 pm. Kitchen will be open. Admission $30 for 10 games of Bingo. 8 games pay $250 each, 2 games pay $500 each, $3,000 total in cash prizes. There will be side raffles, instant pull tabs, door prizes.
