Educational Movement

camp next week

The Kinzua Youth Development Center is hosting an educational movement camp for boys and girls in the U11 age group at the Kinzua Youth Development Center, 200 Struthers St. The camp will run next week – July 8-11 – from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. each day and focus on games and activities that promote foundational skills to become a successful sportsperson. The camp is being directed by Dr. Dan McLaughlin, a physical education professor at Wingate University in North Carolina. The camp is limited to the first 30 individuals who are registered. All interested participants must go to kinzuawrestlingclub.com to register.

Class to meet

The Warren High School Class of 1955 will meet for lunch on Wednesday at Lawson’s West End Takeout at 12:30 p.m.

Blood drive

The Community Blood Bank is holding a blood drive on Thursday from noon to 5 p.m. at Warren General Hospital. Each week in July, one donor will win a four-pack of tickets to one of Waldameer, Kennywood, Cedar Point or Darien Lake Park. Appointments can be made by calling (814) 596-3395. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows.

maintenance schedule

PennDOT has announced the following maintenance work for the week of July 8 on roads maintained by the department in Warren County: Crack sealing on US 6 in Brokenstraw and Pittsfield townships; Pipe replacement on Hazeltine Hollow Rd. in Sugar Grove Twp.; Ditch cleaning on Rt. 27 in Deerfield Twp. and Eldred Twp., Swede Hill Rd. in Pine Grove Twp. and Follett Run Rd. in Conewango Twp.; Spray patching on Rt. 27 in Deerfield Eldred townships; Follett Run Rd. in Conewango Twp. and US 6 in Sheffield Twp. and edge paving on Cable Hollow Rd. in Elk Twp. and Miller Hill Rd and Scranton Hollow Rd. in Farmington Twp.

Garden club meets

The Hill & Dale Garden Club met on June 26 at the Youngsville American Legion with 26 members attending. The Miles Marker had been weeded and mulch put down. The sign-up sheet for Miles Marker weeding is on the table as there are a few spots left to be filled. The Rouse’s Garden Therapy Workshop had many volunteers and 50 bags were made. After Therapy at the Rouse only a few were left. Meetings for the group will shift from 12:30 p.m. to noon starting in 2025.

Cummins open house

The Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a Community Open House on Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event will include plant tours, historical and current engine displays, catering, music provided by Cummins employees, Cummins merchandise for sale, various kid-friendly activities and an on-site job fair.
