Memorial Day camping

The Warren County Fairgrounds will be offering holiday camping Memorial Day weekend. Check in will start at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 with check out on Monday, May 27. There are several campsites to choose from with water and electric hookups, restrooms with showers and a dumping station. For reservations or information call (814) 730-2890. All proceeds benefit the fair improvement fund.

Annual meeting

The Warren Library Association’s 151st Annual Meeting will be held Monday, May 20, in the Slater Room at the Warren Public Library. It will follow the regularly scheduled 4:15 p.m. board of directors meeting.

Class to meet

The Warren High School Class of 1956 will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at Mama Jane’s. Reservations are not required.

Garden Club meets

The Warren Garden Club meeting this month The program for the day was the “Care of Peonies, Queen of the Perennial Border” and was presented by club member Rebecca Ryan. Peonies are survivors and with proper attention they will thrive and give years of enjoyment. The planting of municipal summer flowers is expected to start in the next two weeks. The Horticultural Minute was a short informational talk on moving Christmas Cactuses outside for the summer. The plants love the humidity and the light of a shadowy placement. The June meeting will be a tour of Marysue See’s garden.

The following maintenance work is planned on state roads in Warren County for the week of May 20: Edge paving on Conewango Ave. and Page Hollo Rd. in Glade Township; Spray patching on Hatch Run Rd., Scandia Rd., Hemlock Rd. and Oakland Dr. in Glade Twp. as well as Rt. 958 in Freehold Twp. and US6 in Pittsfield and Brokenstraw townships; Shoulder stabilization on Page Hollow Rd. in Sugar Grove Twp.; Ditch cleaning in Sugar Grove Twp. on Jackson Run Rd., Catlin Hill Rd. and Busti Rd. as well as crack sealing on Rt. 27 in Glade Twp. Fill dirt left over from PennDOT maintenance operations may be available to property owners who request the material, have accessible property near work areas, and submit a completed M-666 packet. Additional information on the maintenance schedule or the M-666 form is available by contacting the Warren County Maintenance Office at (814) 723-3500.

Pine Grove

cleanup is today

PINE GROVE – A spring clean up day for Pine Grove Township residents will be held today from 8 a.m. to noon at the township garage. No oil, paint or hazardous waste, propane tanks, yard waste, household garbage, tires, batteries or recyclable items will be accepted. Driver’s licenses will be checked to verify township residency. The cost will be $10 for cars and vans and $20 for trucks and trailers.
