5 Victim Impact Scholarship recipients announced

Five students have been selected as recipients for the 2024 Victim Impact Scholarship.

Students awarded funding include Nathan Lucks (Youngsville High School, attending Alfred State), Meredith Hanks (Warren, attending Vet Tech Institute), Callan Patterson (Tidioute, attending Allegheny College), Winnifred Wolf (Eisenhower, attending PennWest Edinboro) and Kadence Steffan (Sheffield, attending Thiel College).

Monica Prowitt, victim impact coordinator, said that students seeking the scholarship “must show leadership and demonstrate positive role modeling amongst (their) peers while remaining alcohol and drug free.”

tudents also must have a letter of acceptance as well as submit an essay.

This year’s essay topic asked applicants to discuss how they have dealt with peer pressure regarding underage drinking and drugs, offering suggestions they would give to a friend who was struggling in that area.

The Warren County VIP is comprised of individuals who have been negatively affected by someone driving while under the influence.
