Story time: Tuesday, February 13th from 10:30 – 11:00 am, is Pre-school Story Time at the Youngsville Public Library. Targeted ages are 3-5 years but all are welcome. Join in and enjoy the fun of stories, music, and movement geared towards early literacy skills and social skills. No registration necessary. Preschool Story Time is the 2nd Tuesday of each month at YPLibrary. Questions: 814-563-7670

Career/Training Workshops: Wednesday, February 14th , from Noon – 3:00 pm, a representative from PA CareerLinks will be at the Youngsville Library to assist you with resume writing help, job search questions, free training opportunities from a free, PA sponsored database containing over 6,000 skills-training opportunities. From 2:00 – 3:00 pm Christopher Hinchman will be presenting a workshop on “Effective Workplace Communication & Conflict Management.” Walk-ins are welcome.

If you’re interested in how to take free classes to increase your employment marketability or even just want to learn how to take some classes for self-improvement, be sure to stop in. YPL Book Club: Tuesday, February 13th from 3:00 – 4:00 pm, the Youngsville Library’s Book Club will meet to discuss the book “Room” by Emma Donoghue. If you are interested in joining “fellow-readers” in this fun, laid-back, monthly book discussion group just stop-in and join in the lively conversation. YPL’s “Reading Between the Spines” Book Club meets the second Tuesday of each month from 3:00 – 4:00 pm. Questions call 814-563-7670.

BOROUGH NEWS

Youngsville Borough Public Works Department is looking to fill a temporary, part-time position. Hours will vary. Duties to include garbage pick-up, street work, shop, etc. MUST have a valid driver’s license. Starting wage based on experience. Apply in person at the Borough building, 40 Railroad Street, Monday-Friday, 8 am-4pm or submit your resume to abenedict@youngsvilleboro.org.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

Bingo: Bingo open to the public every Thursday night at the Youngsville American Legion (10 N. Main St). Bingo starts at 6 pm, Kitchen opens at 5 pm. Kitchen is also open to the public on Bingo nights. No smoking allowed at Youngsville American Legion from 5 pm – 9 pm on Bingo nights.

Super Bingo Event: Sunday, February 11th is a “Super Bingo” fundraising event at the Garland Fire Hall. Doors open at Noon and the game starts at 2:00 pm. $50 admission and over $4,000 in cash prizes. There will be lots of other fun ways to win also, including a penny raffle and lottery raffle. Lent Fish Fry: Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street) will have Friday Fish Fry Dinner Fundraiser each Friday-during Lent-from 5:00 – 7:00 pm beginning Friday, February 16th and ending March 22nd. Take out is available. Cost is $13 donation per fish fry dinner and includes: fish, choice of potato, choice of coleslaw or applesauce.

Free Community Meals: Each Wednesday, from 5pm – 6 pm, the Youngsville Free Methodist Church provides a free, community meal (179 Davis St). Menu changes weekly, all are welcome.

Easter Egg Hunt: The Pittsfield Community Easter Egg Hunt will be at Friendship Field on March 30th at 11:00 am. The Egg Hunt is open to children ages 0-12. Egg Hunt is sponsored by Pittsfield Otterbein Global Methodist Church.

Valentine’s Day Comedy Show: Wednesday, February 14th there will be a Valentine’s Day Comedy Show and Dinner event at Brokenstraw Valley Winery (100 Hillside Drive, Yngs) from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm. Dinner starts at 7:00 pm and Show starts at 8:00 pm. The Comedy Show is only $15 per person, $25 per couple. Dinner and Comedy Show is $30 per person or $55 per couple. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Dinner is Lasagna, roll, and tossed salad with a cupcake dessert. Gluten free will be grilled chicken salad. Visit Brokenstraw Valley Winery Facebook page to reserve your seat and prepay. Crary Art Gallery event: Warren County Pride “Show Some Love 3” fundraising event at the Crary Art Gallery on Saturday, February 17th from 8:00 pm- 10:00 pm (511 Market Street). There will be Hors d’oeuvres, wine, music, and a silent auction. Suggested donation is $25. RSVP by text to 714-366-9509.
