YOUNGSVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY CLOSES LIBRARY ANGEL FUNDRAISER

Youngsville Board members and staff are thanking those who donated to the Youngsville Library’s 15th annual Library-Angel Fundraiser.

Public support helps the library to keep its doors open and to continue to offer programming and services.

The most recent donors include:

BOROUGH NEWS

Real Estate Taxes: The last day to pay 2023 real estate taxes at the Youngsville Borough Office is April 12. No personal checks will be accepted after April 1. All payments must be put in the payment slot by 4 p.m. April 12 or postmarked by April 12. All payments received after April 12 will be returned. For more information call 814-563-4604 during business hours.

Holiday hours: Tuesday garbage pick up will be on Wednesday.

2024 Borough Calendar: The 2024 Youngsville Borough holiday calendar is available. Hard copies are available at the borough office.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

2023 Youngsville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund: The Youngsville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund acknowledges the following 2023 memorial donations to the fund: In memory of Don and Mary Lou Walter from Sandy Brown; in memory of Lee Benedict from Sandy Brown; in memory of Rachel Cressley from Sandy Brown; in memory of James Miller from Duane and Donna Vicini; in memory of Rob Rose from Doris Lake; and in memory of William Carlett from Adrienne Suppa. Donations were also received from Luke Benedict through American Charities and the Youngsville High School 50+ Alumni Luncheon attendees.

YHS Alumni Scholarship Fund board members also acknowledged and thanked Steven Zock, a long-time volunteer and trustee, who retired from the organization this year. For many years, Steve almost single handedly ran the business and community sponsorship donations for the annual YHS Scholarship Golf Tournament.

Through generous volunteers, donations, and the proceeds from the annual YHS Alumni Scholarship May Golf Tournament, the Alumni Scholarship Committee has been able to award scholarships to 224 Youngsville High School graduating seniors. Established in 1984 by the YHS Class of 1950, the Alumni Scholarship Fund has distributed more than $253,052 in awards to the youth-community of Youngsville. Donations are welcome and can be sent to P.O. Box 73, Youngsville, PA 16371.

Community Meals: There will be no community meal at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis St.) today. Free community meals will resume on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. starting Jan. 10.

Free Tax Assistance: Senior citizens or those earning less than $60,000 per year are eligible for the free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The first step to getting assistance involves picking up and completing an intake form and corresponding envelope to hold all necessary tax-related information (which is listed on an instruction sheet). The yellow Intake Forms and special envelope for all your tax documents will be available at the Allegheny Community Center (ACC) beginning January 24, 2024. Once the required paperwork has been completed, return information and documents required to the Allegheny Community Center (42 Clark St., Warren). The center is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come to the back entrance on the ground floor, up the ramp and through the doors to reach the second floor. Staff members can then direct tax filers towards the securely locked VITA bin. Call 814-723-4180 with questions.

Fellowship Breakfast: Join members of the Youngsville Free Methodist Church for a short devotional and fellowship breakfast on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 8 a.m. at Station 61 in Youngsville.
