Despite sometimes heavy rain, a fair-size crowd came out to honor the Allegheny National Forest’s 100th birthday.

Held at Twin Lakes Recreation Area outside Wilcox, the event kicked off at 11 a.m. Sunday with food and drink vendors, and information and activity booths.

At 1:30 p.m., a ceremony featuring speakers and an official cake cutting was held, with a ceremonial tree planting after.

Acoustic music was presented throughout the day. Following official ceremonies, bluegrass band Take Solo performed followed by rock group One Last Breath.

The event ran until 7 p.m.
