Monday, October 9 is Audubon Camp for Ages 4-12

On Monday, Oct. 9, the Audubon Community Nature Center will host its October Camp, a way for children ages 4 to 12 to enjoy the school holiday with a day outdoors building forts, climbing, wandering, and exploring.

October Camp at Audubon Community Nature Center is an opportunity for 4- to 12-year-olds to enjoy a day of activities that are a break from the newly started school year.

On Monday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., before the weather turns, children can connect with the natural world as it prepares for the long winter rest.

From learning about changing trees to autumn insects and migrating birds, children can explore the outdoors and everything fall has to offer. Through hands-on activities and lessons guided by a nature educator, October Camp at Audubon is part learning, part play, and part exploration.

Children need to dress for the weather and have extra clothing and gear for outside activities. Cost for the day is $48 for ages 4 to 12 or $36 for Nature Center member children. Additional siblings receive a $5 discount. Enrollment is limited. Paid reservations are required by Thursday, Oct. 5.

For more information and to register, call 716-569-2345 during business hours or go to AudubonCNC.org and click through “Programs and Events.”

Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. Visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, check in on the live birds of prey, and hike the more than five miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free.

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
