Photo submitted to the Times Observer “Hands-on Pollination & more” Get ready to investigate plants, learn about animal pollinators beyond butterflies and bees, enjoy some creative crafting, have a snack or two, and more in this 4-part, hands-on learning program series: “Plants & Pollinators” from the Youngsville Public Library. Due to the difficulty level of some of the interactive crafts, target ages are 4-12, but all are welcome. Program dates are Monday, Aug 14th, Tues, Aug 15th, Monday, Aug 21st, & Tues, August 22nd. Program will take place at Island Park’s main pavilion (rain or shine) from 10 am – 11 am on each of these dates. You do not have to preregister nor do you have to attend all 4 dates. Fiction & Fitness: Wednesday, August 16th at 10:00 am is Youngsville Library’s “Fiction & Fitness” program for kids ages 3-12, but all are welcome. This program is in partnership with the Yngs YMCA and meets at the patio behind the Yngs YMCA at Island Park. No registration is necessary. There are only two more dates remaining for this 6-part series program. Each program in this free series features: themed stories with corresponding fitness activity, a snack, and take-home craft. Each week that a child attends, they will receive a FREE Yngs YMCA day-pass and a FREE raffle ticket chance to win give-away prizes. The theme changes each day of the series. The theme for August 16th is: “Fish & Wildlife” and will feature carnival-themed activities and events.

Free iPhone/computer help: Wednesday, August 16th from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, Youngsville Library offers free one-on-one assistance with your iPhone, tablet, android, laptop, and other computer/electronics questions. No appointment necessary, walk-ins are welcome. “Wi-fi Wednesdays” happen the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5 pm – 6 pm at the Youngsville Library. This is a very casual, open question and answer time period for everyone from beginner to advanced.

Have questions about how to remove, add, or edit photos? This the place for you. Maybe you’re unsure of how to tag emails or how to add your email account to your cell phone. This is the place for you. Please remember to bring your (fully charged) electronic device (phone, tablet, etc.) as well as associated passwords (such as your email password, apple account password, etc. if needed).

BOROUGH NEWS

Island Park Music: Youngsville Boro’s weekly Island Park Music Series starts at 6:00 pm each Thursday and is located at Island Park. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy this free music series. Performing country music on Thursday, 17th is TBA the night of. On Thursday, August 24th the band will be Trixx (classic rock).

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

Drake Day: Music in the Park on August 26th from Noon – 4 pm at the Drake Well Museum and Park (2020 Museum Lane, Titusville 814-827-2797). Join us in celebrating the 164th anniversary of Edwin Drake Striking Oil. Featuring performances by: Queen City Community Band, Mostly Brass, and Franklin Silver Cornet Band. Admission fees apply. Community Forum: August 21st at 6 pm and the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center (207 2nd Ave Warren), there will be a Community Forum with Forest Warren Human Services. This is an opportunity for families to discuss resources in the community, all are welcome. Light refreshments provided. Topics will include but are not limited to: mental health, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, housing transportation, and more. Please join us for a chance to give your input on the system of care.

Warren Co. Front Porch Days: Sunday, August 13th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm is Warren County Front Porch Days Community wide Old-Fashioned sing-along at Betts Park. All are invited to Betts Park for a Community sing-along. It is a good time to celebration our wonderful community and county.

Warren Music in Park: Friday, August 18th from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm is Music in the Park @ Soldiers & Sailors. Band- Whiskey Joe (classic rock). Free event.

Free Outreach Luncheon: Wednesday, August 16th at 11:30 am is the free, monthly Outreach Luncheon at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church (166 Hessel Valley Road, Chandlers Valley). Luncheon menu: sloppy joes, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, and a variety of desserts.
