Youngsville Life

Stories, songs, snacks and silliness all spell F-U-N on Tuesday at the Warren County Fair when the Youngsville Library performs its annual Warren County Fair Story Time Day. The location is the Gazebo near the Cornplanter building at 11 a.m. This is a free program that offers fun family entertainment for all ages. There will be other libraries reading at 11 a.m. from Wednesday through Saturday. Shown is Miss Diane reading a Jack and the Beanstalk story last year. Children who attend will receive the following: snacks, goody bag filled with color pages, fun-facts, a take-and-make craft, and more.

BOOK CLUB AND

CONCERTS ON THE SCHEDULE IN YOUNGSVILLE

The Youngsville Public Library’s monthly book club meets on Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m.

All are welcome. Those interested can walk-in and participate in the conversations. The book to be discussed on Tuesday is “Sister of Mine” by Laurie Petrou. The book to be distributed for September discussion is “Inheritance” by Dani Shapiro. The book club meets the second Tuesday of each month.

Photos submitted to the Times Observer Aliviah takes her turn at the “Ball Toss” on Wednesday during the “Carnival Day”-themed Fiction and Fitness program, sponsored by Youngsville Public Library and the Youngsville YMCA. There are two dates remaining in the six-part program - Aug. 16 and Aug. 23. No registration is necessary. Each program in the free series features: themed stories with corresponding fitness activity, a snack, and take-home craft. Each week that a child attends, they will receive a free Youngsville YMCA day-pass and a free ticket chance to win give-away prizes. The theme changes each day of the series. The theme for AUg. 16 is: “Fish & Wildlife” and will feature carnival-themed activities and events.

Youngsville Boro’s weekly Island Park Music Series starts at 6 p.m. each Thursday and is located at Island Park. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy this free music series. Performing on Thursday is Back Log (Rock).

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

¯ Warren Music in Park: Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. is Music in the Park at Soldiers & Sailors. The band Temple Grey (soft rock) will perform. There is no charge.

¯ Pleasantville Fire Department festival: Saturday is the final day of the Pleasantville Community Festival 2023 at Pleasantville VFD Station 16. Back by popular demand is the Lumber Jack and Jill Competition. Saturday signups at noon in the main tent with competition beginning at 1 p.m. For more information contact Kevin Synder at 814-671-4508.

Saturday will have live music in the pavilion throughout the day with “The Highlife” from 1 to 4 p m., “EJ the DJ” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and “Leather & Lace” from 7 to 10 p.m. The parade begins at 4 p.m. with floats, marching bands, horses and all the Royalty that represents Pleasantville community. The Cruise-In is from 5 to 7 p.m., but many cruise-in cars will be in the parade too. There will be Gibson fireworks at dark. The vendors and food trucks will also be there in addition to games, a silent auction, and petting zoo.

¯ Movie Night at the Warren City Car Pool. On Friday from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m., the movie “JAWS” will be showing at the Warren City Car Pool. Cost is $4 per person.
