Event to spread awareness of overdose is scheduled
Today is International Overdose Awareness Day and Warren will be taking part.
From 3 until 6 p.m., Family Services of Warren County, Inc. will host the public at General Joseph Warren Park to spread awareness of overdoses and commemorate those lost.
The event will begin with an invocation by the Rev. Dr. Mark E. Hecht of First United Methodist Church. Live music, food, interactive tables hosted by local agencies, and giveaways and sales of awareness items will be featured throughout the afternoon. The event will culminate with a biodegradable balloon release at 5:45 p.m.
The community is encouraged to wear purple and sign the remembrance wall at the event.
In the event of heavy rain, activities will be moved to the First United Methodist Church on Second Street.
