Youngsville Library announces Amazing Animals Program

Photo submitted to the Times Observer Do they have Golf Fever? “Fore” sure! : Kids ages 3 to 12 had the opportunity to practice basic golf techniques, learn the history and rules of golf, and even listened to some golf jokes during the free “Fiction and Fitness” summer program offered in partnership with the Youngsville Library and the Yngs YMCA. This summer program is a six-part series, located at Island Park pavilion area and field behind the Yngs YMCA. You do not need to register. Each program in this free series features: themed stories with corresponding fitness activity, a snack, and take-home craft. Each week that a child attends, they will receive a FREE Yngs YMCA day-pass and a FREE raffle ticket chance to win give-away prizes. The theme changes each day of the series. Upcoming dates are Wednesdays from 10 am – 11 am: July 5th, July 19th, August 2nd, Aug 16th, and Aug 23rd. Details at YoungsvilleLibrary.org.

¯Amazing Animals Program : Monday, July 3rd from 10:30 am – 11:30 am at the Youngsville Public Library, join in the fun for the “Amazing Animals” program. This 7-part series started in June and will continue for the following Mondays from 10:30 am -11:00 am: July 3rd, July 10th, July 17th, July 24th, and July 31st. No registration required to attend. Target ages are 4 -12 years, but all are welcome! Each program in this series features: a nature story (featuring a different animal each week), nature facts, a craft that you can take-home or choose to complete at the library, and a snack. You do not have to attend every program to participate.

¯STEM-ulating Stories with Sara: If you’re aged 5 to 12 years old and ready to have fun with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math then this is the Summer Program for you! Visit the Youngsville Public Library each Wednesday in July from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. No registration required. STEM-ulating Stories pairs great stories with fun, hands-on, STEM-inspired crafts and activities. You do not have to attend all four dates: July 5th, July 12th, July 19th, and July 26th. Come and enjoy the fun.

¯Library Holiday Hours: The Youngsville Library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. The Library will be open regular hours on Monday, July 3rd (10 am – 6 pm), Wednesday, July 5th (10 am – 6 pm), and on Friday, July 7th (11 am – 4 pm). The secure drop-box is open 24/7 and is located to the right of the front doors.

¯Bariatric Support Group meets: Wednesday, July 5th from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, a Bariatric Support Group will be meeting at the Youngsville Public Library. This meeting is open to the public and all are welcome. The goal of this group is to offer a casual, friendly atmosphere where anyone who has had bariatric surgery- or might be considering surgery- can share and discuss their ongoing experiences and questions with one another. This group will meet the first Wednesday of each

¯month from 5-6 pm at the Youngsville Library. Questions: all Rebecca Butler 814-650-2632.

BORO NEWS

¯Holiday Hours: The Youngsville Borough and Services will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th in observance of the holiday. Regular office hours and DPW services will resume on Wednesday, July 5th.

¯Holiday garbage pick-up: Garbage pick-up will remain the same for those that have Monday, July 3rd pickup. Tuesday’s garbage pickup will take place on Wednesday, July 5th.

¯Island Park Music: Youngsville Boro’s weekly Island Park Music Series starts at 6:00 pm each Thursday and is located at Island Park. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy this free music series. Performing country music on Thursday, July 6th is Bart Green and Holly Abers. On Thursday, July 13th “Dem Bones” will be performing (Trombone Group).

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

¯Part-time Office manager: Immediate opening for a part-time Office Manager (approximately 12-15 hrs./week) at the Youngsville First UMC (225 East Main Street). ¯New Pastor event: The Youngsville First United Methodist Church on East Main Street would like to invite the public to their church on Sunday, July 2nd to meet their new Pastor, Tom Harrison. The service times have changed to 10:00 am for Sunday School and 11:00 am for worship.

¯YHS Alumni Picnic: Tuesday, July 11th from noon to 3:00 pm is the YHS Alumni Luncheon for graduates with 50+ years ago. The luncheon will be at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street). The Luncheon is open to all YHS graduates and guests. Those attending are asked to bring a dish and dessert to share. Table service and beverage will be provided. This year the honored guests are YHS class of 1972. This year’s host is the YHS class of 1971 and supporting classes 1969 and 1970.

YHS Coming Home events:

YHS Alumni that are planning reunions for the “YHS Coming Home” weekend in October, call Kathie Irwin for information 814-489-3535. The following events are already scheduled for the October weekend:

¯Saturday, October 7th at 9:00 am – Alumni Breakfast at Scottie’s (Old Pittsfield Inn), self-pay. All are welcome.(b) 10/07/23 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm the Alumni Dinner Buffet (catered by Catering Plus) at the Youngsville Fire Hall. Doors open at 5:00 pm. Details for costs to follow. (c) 10/07/2023 from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm Alumni Dance at the Youngsville Fire Hall featuring music by After Dark Performance with Matt Ekstrom, cost details to follow.

¯Dinner reservations are required and deadline is September 23, 2023. Total cost for both the Dinner and Dance is $25.00 per person. Dinner only cost is $15.00 per person (with reservation).
