LIBRARY NEWS

¯ Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. a Bariatric Support Group will be meeting at the Youngsville Public Library. The meeting is open to the public and all are welcome. The goal of this group is to offer a casual, friendly atmosphere where anyone who has had bariatric surgery — or might be considering surgery — can share and discuss their ongoing experiences and questions with one another. This group will meet the first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Youngsville Library. For more information call Rebecca Butler at 814-650-2632.

¯ The Youngsville Public Library offers two different story time programs each month. There is a more traditional Story time which targets children ages 3 to 6, although all are welcome, and is held the second Tuesday of each month from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The other more specialized and structured program is called “Sensory Storytime” and is held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Sensory story time is designed for both children on and off the spectrum and targets the developmental age range of 3 to 7 years (which might not actually correspond with the physical age of a child with special needs). However, all are welcome to attend sensory story time too.

Both monthly story time programs are offered year-round and will continue to be offered in the summer months. The next story time is Tuesday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. During the summer months the Youngsville Public Library does create and offer more programming options, but those programs do not replace the Tuesday story time or Tuesday sensory story time slots. Youngsville Library’s 2023 Summer Programming schedule, activities, and events for countywide patrons of all ages will begin the week of June 19. More information will continue to be provided on the Youngsville Library’s website (YoungsvilleLibrary.org), Facebook page (reference Youngsville-Public-Library), and in the Youngsville News section of the TimesObserver prior to June 19.
