The Youngsville Public Library’s 2023 summer programming

The Youngsville Public Library’s 2023 summer programming is action packed and starts this week.

There will be programs both on-site at the library (100 Broad Street) and off-site at additional locations such as Island Park and the Youngsville YMCA. For more details visit YoungsvilleLibrary.org and like Youngsville Public Library on Facebook.

One part of the program is Amazing Animals from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday. Monday’s session is the first in a six-part series at the library. No registration necessary and those attending do not have to attend all six sessions. Target ages are 4-12 years, but all are welcome.

Each program in this free, six-part series will include a nature story (featuring a different animal each week), nature facts, a take-home craft, and a snack. Amazing Animals will be located at the Youngsville and run each Monday from June 19 through July 31.

The Youngsville Library is once again partnering with the Youngsville YMCA to offer the second year of its six-part series “Fiction & Fitness.” No registration is necessary, target ages are 3-12 years, but all are welcome. Program time is from 10 to 11 a.m. on select Wednesdays from June through August. Fiction & Fitness takes place rain or shine. If there is rain, meet beneath the Island Park Pavilion, otherwise the program will meet under the porch directly behind the Youngsville YMCA.

Each program in this free six-part series will feature themed stories with a corresponding fitness activity, a healthy snack, and a take-home craft. Wednesday, June 21, is the first day for this six-part program series. Additional Wednesday dates are: July 5, July 19, Aug. 2, Aug. 16, and Aug. 23. Story theme and sporting activity will change each week.

Those attending do not have to attend all six sessions. However, new this year, for each week that a child attends they will receive both a free Youngsville YMCA day-pass and a free ticket to win various giveaway prizes (up to six chances).

On Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. there will be a free, interactive, family-fun, library sponsored program that will be performing at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street). Target ages are 4-13 years, but all are welcome. Come and see author, comedian, and magician Cris Johnson as he explores the amazing and “wacky” world of science.

The Youngsville Free Methodist Church is allowing the library to have the show there to comfortably accommodate a larger viewing audience and all the wacky science props. The Youngsville Library will have handouts about its summer programming as well as provide a free snack to those who attend. Those attending can also sign up for YFMChurch’s carnival-themed vacation Bible school program, which takes place from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, through Thursday, June 29.

The Cris Johnson programs are made possible thanks to the collaboration and sponsorship by the five independent libraries within Warren County: Sheffield Township Library, Sugar Grove Free Library, Tidioute Public Library, Warren Library, and Youngsville Library.

Additional Wacky Science shows dates/locations within Warren county are Monday at 11 a.m. at the Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department hall; Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Sheffield Township Library; Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Free Library; and Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church. On Tuesday, June 27, Johnson will be at the Warren Library at 10:30 a.m. to perform a magic show “Yes I can!” No registration is required to attend any or all of these shows.
