Saturday, May 20th from 10 am – 4 pm, Youngsville Public Library (100 Broad Street) is having a Spring Book Sale for the very first time. Regular library services, such as access to public computer towers and material check out, will also be available during this time on May 20th. Unlike the traditional Book Sale held in September, this Spring book sale will not have food.

In preparation for the Spring Book Sale, the Youngsville Public Library (will be accepting donations of fiction books and DVDs on Mondays & Wednesdays from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm and Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 am – 2 pm. No magazines, cassette tapes, VHS tapes or nonfiction books (i.e. no textbooks, encyclopedias, biographies, dictionaries, lifetime books, etc.). Please only donate books/items that are in good or better condition. We are interested in regular print fiction (both hardcover and paperback), children/youth books, large print fiction, Christian fiction, and DVDs. Please do not include items that are dirty, moldy, musty, smelly, water-stained, bug infested, or have browned/tattered/missing covers or pages.

It is our goal to provide quality book sale items for our book sale fundraising events. We are looking for items that could be classified as “good, gently-used” condition or better. The first-ever Spring Book Sale will be on Saturday, May 20th from 10 am – 4 pm. Questions, call 814-563-7670. Mondays and Wednesdays 10 am – 6 pm, Tuesdays 10 am – 3pm, and Fridays 11 am – 4 pm.

Free iPhone/iPad help: Wednesday, May 17th from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm is “BYOD Wi-Fi Wednesday” at the Youngsville Public Library. This is a free, walk-in opportunity to get some one-on-one help with your digital devices. BYOD stands for Bring Your Own Device. Ginny Barrett can help you with general electronic device questions, device navigation issues, downloading apps, various troubleshooting questions and scenarios, excel software questions, and so much more. No appointment necessary.

Ginny has extensive experience with a variety of cell phone, laptop, and tablet brands. She also is knowledgeable regarding Microsoft office software. Free, “BYOD Wi-Fi Wednesday” is the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5 – 6 pm. Please remember to bring your device with you. FUNDRAISERS

Chicken BBQ: Mother’s Day Chicken BBQ at the Youngsville Fire Hall on Sunday May 14, 2023 from noon until sold out. Dine in or Take outs available.

Spaghetti Dinner: Thursday, May 25th from 5:00 -7:00 pm there will be a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street). Proceeds will benefit their “Lighthouse Teens” program and will help defray the cost of tickets for the Kingdom Bound event being planned. Both dine in and take-out options are available.

Meal includes: Spaghetti, salad, bread, and dessert. Cost: $10 donation per adult meal and $5 donation per kid meal (under 10 years old) for dine-in. Take-out cost is $10 per meal. The Lighthouse Teens group was created for youth in 6th – 12th grades. They meet Thursdays from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. For more information about this youth group visit: www.ybfree.org.

Plant Sale: The Warren Garden Club Plant Sale is Saturday, May 13th from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at General Joseph Warren Park (301 Poplar Street, Warren).

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

Yngs Pickleball: The Pickleball Courts, located at Island Park in Youngsville, are now open for play. Basic instruction in pickle ball and coaching will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 am – 11:00 am and Thursdays from 6 pm – 8 pm. No sign-up required. During the basic instruction and coaching times on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, you will have an opportunity to try different paddles at the court if you need one. Demo, new, and used paddles will also be available for purchase on instruction days, costs ranges from $25 – $50. Currently waiting for nice weather before leaving the pickle ball nets out throughout the summer. Nets are on-sight in a locked box in the meantime. However, if you wish to play on dates/times other than those listed, please call Bill at 814-730-7607. Also please call Bill with any questions, if you’d like to purchase paddles, and/or if you’d like to help with the maintenance of the pickleball court.

History Camp: Warren County History Camp will be held July 17 – 21, 2023 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm daily, rain or shine. The History Camp is sponsored by the Warren County Historical Society. Students grades 4-8 are invited to register for a week of intriguing summer fun as History Camp will tour local landmarks such as the Wetmore House, Eldred WWII Museum, Irvine-Newbold Estate, Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad, Kinzua Bridge State Park, Oakland Cemetery, and much more.

Cost is $129 per camper. Register at warrnhistory.org or at the Warren County Historical Society (210 Fourth Avenue). Registration deadline is July 1, 2023. For more information please call 814-723-1795.

Kids Flower Bar: Saturday, May 13th from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, there will be a Kids Flower Bar at Ekey Marketplace. Kids can create their own arrangement for their Mom, Grandma, Aunt, or any special person. Bring your own vase or pick out out. Flowers will be charged per stem and vases priced by size. We will have a variety of flowers to choose from. Stop in anytime between 9 am and 2 pm. This is not a class and open to everyone.
