LIBRARY SPECIAL HOURS FOR
WARRENGIVES
Wednesday, May 10, is the WarrenGives Day of Giving Event, and the Youngsville Public Library will be open two hours earlier than usual with hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Being open extended hours is a tradition the library has maintained since WarrenGives began.
“The Youngsville Public Library realizes that there are still many members of the public who either don’t have their own computer or don’t have access to reliable wi-fi but who still want to participate in WarrenGives and who want to donate to various charities,” said Kristy Wallace, library director. “Not only does Youngsville Library offer free access to our public computers but we also have volunteers from our Friends of the Library group who are available to assist anyone who has questions about the process of visiting WarrenGives online website to make a secure donation. Each year we have helped both first-time donors and many repeat donors, who just like to ‘double check’ that they are making their donation correctly. So we make sure to be open a few hours longer on WarrenGives Day. This year the Friends of the Library will also be providing individually wrapped, complimentary treats and bottled water throughout the day for anyone who stops in as a way of saying thank you.”
The Youngsville Public Library is eligible to receive donations through WarrenGives each year. This is a fundraising opportunity that the Youngsville Library relies on heavily. Money raised through WarrenGives help the library to continue to provide “free to the public” eBooks, e-resources, high-speed Wi-Fi access, summer reading and other outreach programming, free summer snack program, free weekly professional development workshops, digital courses and digital reference data bases. This year library officials hope there will be enough total money raised to help the library fulfill its plans to expand its parking lot options.
“With the continued increase in our monthly programming attendance for kids and adults and also taking into consideration the increases in summer programming participation, parking can be an issue,” Wallace said. “Luckily Cindy McKinney has always been kind enough to allow library patrons to use her main and side parking lot during programming events, which really helps. But the Library Board knows that the Youngsville Public Library needs to expand our parking options and is working towards that endeavor.”
Minimum donation on the WarrenGives site is $10 per organization. Both credit cards and debit cards are accepted. Youngsville Library has a quick-link to the WarrenGives site on their homepage at YoungsvillePublicLibrary.org.
