The great white

It was the day after St. Patrick’s Day and Morris was fishing for the Chomping Trout, so far, he hadn’t caught anything.

Then suddenly, a white glow came from the water. Morris had no idea what it was he called to his friend at the shore, “Ash, check this out!”

Then, out of nowhere, a giant whale like fish burst out of the water. Its belly was a light blue that faded up into white. It came down into the water splashing Morris off the boat. Morris was struggling to swim up, he had no idea how to swim. Ash jumped in and pulled Morris to shore.

He woke up in an enclosed space. He got up and found a door, it had a carved dragon in the wood. He opened it and was blinded by the bright light from the sun. He was standing on a giant boat shaped like a dragon. Ash was standing near the head of the dragon. He turned around, “You’re finally up, I thought you were dead.” He stumbled around and sat on a crate.

He said, “What was that thing. I mean the white and blue whale.” Ash replied, “That was the Great White, most people mistake it for a whale. But it is really a mystical creature.” Ash walked over to Morris, “Leon told me to give this to you.” He handed Morris a black leather pouch. Inside were 6 pearly tiny orbs. “They are supposed to make you breath under water if you swallow them.” Morris did not know what to think. “Why do I need these?” Ash said, “Leon knows you can’t swim.” Morris asked, “Who is this Leon anyway?” Ash replied, “He is the one who organized the expedition we are on. In other words, he is the boss.” Ash said. “You should speak to him.”

Morris could barely stand; how could he walk upstairs into the ship’s steering carriage. “Humph, alright.” He walked up the stairs and into the carriage. In there stood a tall man with an eye patch. “You’re awake. I have a mission that I need you on.” Morris didn’t know what the mission was, but he replied, “What is the mission and why do you need me on it?” Leon said, “Well, the mission is to bring the species of great whites back. The Reason I need you is because you are the only one who can open this box.

Your dad died trying to find the great white and he kept all his information in this box.”

He pulled out a dark brown box with dragon shaped engraving in it. “Open it.” He handed it to Morris. Morris touched his finger to the thumb sized oval. The box made a clicking sound and Morris opened it. Inside was a picture of an odd constellation with lines connecting the stars. It looked like a dagger. Under the picture was a paper that said, the great white is a hybrid between a great white shark and a whale. It was made in a hybrid facility in the Ocean of Neon. The great white makes an eerie glow when it surfaces. It is highly dangerous and has destroyed many search parties. If this gets into the hands of my son, he needs to look for the great white and kill it. The world could end if it is kept alive. Morris said, “If I need to kill it, why are you trying to make more of them.”

Then Leon’s body went limp and fell. In his place stood a humanoid figure that was entirely made of water. It spoke in Morris’ head, “Leon made a good host. I am whirlpool, and I have come here to kill you.” Just then Ash walked in and saw the creature he yelled, “Water spirit! Morris, run!” So of course, he did. Behind him he saw Ash pull out a hand crossbow and when the arrow hit the water spirit, it went through it. Ash dropped the crossbow and pulled out a dagger with an eerie black aura. When Ash hit the spirit with it, the sprit turned rock solid and crumbled to dust. “Morris, we need to get to land. There are bound to be more of them.”

They got to land and just as they got off the boat, it burst apart sending Morris and Ash seven feet into the air. In the wreckage of the ship stood at least twenty water spirits.
