Conservation District accepting scholarship applications

The Warren County Conservation District is accepting applications for scholarships.

Warren County students who will be or are continuing their education in a conservation or environmental field are eligible to apply for the WCCD Ralph G. Eckert Scholarship and the Warren County Council of Sportsmen’s Clubs Scholarships.

Ralph Eckert served in the Soil Conservation Service in Warren County form 1950 to 1966. The scholarship in his name “helps to promote love of the outdoors, and the conservation of natural resources through education,” according to a WCCD release.

“If you are a high school senior in Warren County or a college student in an environmental field you’re eligible to apply for the Ralph G. Eckert Scholarship which is awarded annually by the Warren County Conservation District to a deserving county high school senior planning to continue her/his education in a conservation related field or service,” according to the release.

“The Warren County Council of Sportsmen’s Clubs has entrusted the Warren County Conservation District with the responsibility of awarding their scholarships,” according to the release. “This opportunity is available to high school seniors residing in Warren County who wish to enter college to pursue an environmental or conservation related degree.”

Students can apply for both scholarships. Additional information and application packages are available by contacting the WCCD at (814) 726-1441 or www.wcconservation.net. Students may also inquire at their high school guidance office.

The application period is open through 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 1.
