Submitted Photo On Monday, January 16, 2023 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Audubon Community Nature Center’s January Camp is an opportunity for kids ages 4 to 12 to learn, play and explore.

January Camp at Audubon Community Nature Center is a time to be outdoors for those whose children don’t have school on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Children ages 4 to 12 can take part a day of Audubon activities at the start of the new year, including playing in the snow, building with ice, experimenting with materials to stay warm and perhaps even building a fire.

Children need to dress for the weather and have extra clothing and winter gear for outside activities. They also need a packed lunch and snack that do not need to be refrigerated.

The cost for the day is $48 for ages 4 – 12 or $36 for Nature Center member children. Additional siblings receive a $5 discount. Enrollment is limited. Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. Visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, check in on the live birds of prey, and hike, snowshoe or cross country ski more than five miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free. The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
