School district partners with Pitt-Bradford on Instant Decision Day
Instant Decision Day is coming up.
Warren County School District seniors who are thinking about moving on to college after graduation will have a chance to apply at no cost to a college in their back yard and see right away how their applications turn out.
The district is partnering with the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Instant Decision Day.
It’s a win-win. Students have the instant feedback and UPB gets to reach students in the area.
“We want to be as accessible as possible to students in our region,” Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management Bob Dilks said. “Pitt-Bradford is such an incredible educational opportunity for local students (and beyond) that we want to do everything possible to get students’ attention. This is one more way to do so.”
Having instant decisions also works well for students’ time-lines. “We are seeing and hearing that many high school seniors this year are acting a little later in the year than in past years,” Dilks said.
Dilks will be at Sheffield Area High School from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and Eisenhower High School from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, and at Warren Area High School from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and Youngsville High School from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.
“Students will have the opportunity to complete a free paper ‘Express Application’ on the spot and bring a high school transcript directly from the guidance office for review,” Dilks said. “Standardized tests (SAT/ACT) continue to be optional for admission at Pitt-Bradford. The high school transcript showing student’s performance in their courses is the primary driver for our admission review.”
“Students meeting admission requirements will walk away with a tentative letter of admission, with a formal admission letter and package to within a week or so once formally processed,” he said. “We will even be able to review the student for eligibility for Pitt-Bradford’s unique at-entry merit scholarships.”
Dilks said tuition is over $6,000 less per year as compared to the main Pittsburgh campus. He said Pitt matches the Federal Pell grant dollar for dollar for students that are eligible for the Pell; almost all of our students who apply for financial aid receive some form of assistance.
Pitt-Bradford offers over 40 bachelor degree programs entirely completed on our campus.
