Warren grad honored with lifetime achievement award

A 1993 Warren Area High School graduate has been honored by the Resort and Commercial Recreation Association with a lifetime achievement award.

Dan Merenick, working at the Reston Association in Reston, Va., was named the Howard Uibel Lifetime Achievement Award winner at the RCRA’s November gala.

“The Howard Uibel Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a career of extraordinary achievement providing inspiration, integrity and dedication to our association, our members and the entire industry,” according to an RCRA release. “The person who receives this award must be active in RCRA committees and on board assignments along with making valuable professional contributions outside of RCRA. They must be a member of RCRA for more than 10 years and employed for more than 10 years in the field of commercial recreation.”

Merenick attended his first RCRA conference while a student at Robert Morris College in 1995. He was an RCRA board member in 2009 and 2021.

“He has worked for resorts, homeowners’ associations, the YMCA, and in the fitness industry,” according to RCRA. “In his current role at Reston, Dan works tirelessly to support well over 23,000 households and works endless hours researching the latest trends so he can work with his team to creating new and exciting events.”
