Sugar Grove Ruff Riders return from state horse show

Sugar Grove Ruff Riders had a good run at the 2022 Pennsylvania State Horse Show from Oct. 27 to 30. The Club also had a member awarded for accomplishing all four levels of Horsemanship skills. Katie Downs is the first 4H member in Warren County to achieve this award. She is an inspiration to her fellow club members. She also placed first in Pony Trail, third in Novice Reigning, fourth in Western Grooming & Showmanship 15-18, fifth in Ranch Riding 14-18, and sixth in Ranch Pleasure. In addition to Katie’s accomplishments the Club had several members in the top 10. Arlene Boisvert placed third in Saddleseat Equitation 8-13 and fourth in Saddleseat Pleasure. Addy Hannold won the Western Horsemanship 12-14 class with a first place finish and took eighth place in Open Trail 14-18. Marissa Gourley placed ninth in Open Trail 14-18.

Ava Nyweide placed third in Western Grooming & Showman ship 12-14, third in Mini Horse Jumping 14-18 and sixth in Western Pleasure Horsemanship 14-18. Bekah Wenzel won Ranch riding 14-18 with a first place finish. The Club also had first time State qualifiers/participants Tonya Hotaling, Jordyn Morrison and Allissa Kranak.

The Club has also elected officers for the 2022-23 year. The officers are Allissa Kranak, President; Zoie Atkins, Vice President; Arlene Boisvert, Secretary; Shelby Rhoades, Treasurer and Tonya Hotaling, News Reporter. The Club wrapped up its annual Cuba cheese fundraiser this week. They are raising funds to attend Equine Affair in April in Columbus, Ohio.

On Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. the Club will be Christmas caroling at the Rouse Suites for residents. They will also spend time with the residents as well as pass out cookies and apple cider.
