Library to host Pumpkin Bear DIY workshop

Warren Public Library will hold a Pumpkin Bear DIY workshop at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, for children ages 2 to 11. Participants will be treated to Halloween stories before stuffing their own pumpkin bear. Pre-registration, and a $5, non-refundable payment, is required by contacting Children’s Librarian Susan Slater at the Children’s Department or (814) 723-4650. Meanwhile, library Toddler Time including stories, songs, crafts, and creative play with Ms. Susan will be held at 10:30 a.m. Mondays for children ages 1 to 5.

Walk to End

Alzheimer’s

The Warren Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held with registration at 9 a.m., opening ceremonies at 10 a.m., and the Walk starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Betts Park. Warren County residents will join the world’s largest event dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support, and research, according to Warren Area Committee Member Linda Knapp. “The Alzheimer’s Association draws hundreds of walkers and teams to the event each fall and it is a pivotal event to spread community awareness and concern for Alzheimer’s disease,” Alzheimer’s Association Greater Pennsylvania Chapter Walk Manager Amy Ritzel said. “We are looking forward to gathering with local families on Walk day who have been impacted by the disease, as we work together to inspire hope in the fight for a cure and move closer to our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.”

AOC to hike and ride

The Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes and hike on the Kinzua Valley Trail at Westline on Sunday. The group will meet at Musante Street by 1 p.m. or at the trailhead in Westline at 2 p.m. Linda Ross will lead the activity and can be reached with questions at (814) 688-5908.
