Local band to hosting celebration of first album release

On the occasion of their first album release, the members of Sixpence will host a free concert and party.

Warren-based Sixpence — William Russell and Ellen Paquette — combine guitar, Celtic harp, and voices on the album “Songs of Sixpence” and at the Sally’s Encore stage at Struthers Library Theatre from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20.

The concert will feature songs from the album and “some surprises.”

“You’ll hear a centuries-spanning repertoire including haunting Celtic ballads, inspired original tunes, and fresh covers of artists including The Kinks, Pentangle, Bob Dylan, Nick Cave, and John Prine,” Paquette said. “If you enjoy Celtic music, the 60s British folk revival and American folk rock, the sounds of Sixpence will be music to your ears.”
