Annual golf tourney to help children in Tanzania
The Warren Majengo Foundation continues to improve the lives of children in Tanzania.
The organization’s mission is “to provide stability, security, and support for the Majengo Children’s Home and other worthy educational, economic development, and philanthropic causes in Mto wa Mbu, Tanzania.”
Majengo — which means “building up” — provides support to more than 200 children in the Mto wa Mbu community.
The Majengo Children’s Home was started after visitors to Mto wa Mbu saw children who were ostensibly living in an orphanage begging in the streets, Warren Majengo Foundation founders said. The orphanage was simply a building with four walls, a roof, and a sign. The children were kept poorly fed and poorly clothed to encourage visitors to open their wallets.
In order to support the mission and continue to support those children, the foundation is holding its second annual Warren Majengo Foundation Golf Tournament. The event will be held Sunday, July 17, at Conewango Valley Country Club.
Tickets to golf in the four-person scramble are $80 per person. That includes green fees, cart, lunch, beverages, dinner, and prize money.
Those looking to sign up to golf in the tournament or to sponsor the event may contact Deb Brewster at brewsterdeb75@gmail.com or (814) 563-7331.
