SUMMER

PROGRAMMING

The Youngsville Public Library will offer a variety of summer programming options for children, teens and adults. Two of the library’s six-part program series have already begun (Fiction & Fitness location is Island Park and Educational Escapades in Chapman Park).

The library’s seventh annual free snack program will be from Monday, June 13, through Aug. 19. Children ages 18 and under can visit Youngsville Library each day it is open — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m. — and pick-up a free snack. Individually packaged snacks are placed in brown lunch bags and will be located in a labeled tote in the lobby for a “contactless self-serve” option to keep. The procedure was put in place to keep in line with health and food safety protocols implemented in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year the library is partnering with the Children Hunger Outreach Project and has received a majority of its snacks from this organization. Additional snack needs are provided by the library. This is a program to help combat food deficits for children in Youngsville and the surrounding areas. From mid-June to late August, the library averages more than 300 snacks distributed to children 18 and under each week.

The JoyFull Cafe will resume the free Wednesday evening meal outreach in the fall. The JoyFull cafe is on hiatus during the summer months.
