Commissioners note ‘varmint’ problem at county warehouse

Warren County has a “varmint” problem.

On Monday, the county commissioners heard that mice have damaged county property at the warehouse in Starbrick.

“It’s pretty significant,” Public Safety Director Ken McCorrison said. “We had a vehicle disabled due to mice chewing on the wiring.”

While the commissioners joked about “varmints” and “gremlins” during the meeting, they took the matter seriously enough to examine a quote for extermination.

They said $120 was higher than they would like to pay every month on an ongoing basis, but as a one-time or short-term effort to get the problem under control, they were willing to move forward.
