Class to meet for lunch

The Warren High School Class of 1951 will meet for lunch at Cornerstone at 11:30 a.m. on May 11. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call Joyce at 814-723-3614.

Clean-up day

The annual spring clean- up day for Elk Township residents will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at the township’s maintenance garage. No oil, paint /liquid hazardous waste, asbestos, fluorescent bulbs, propane tanks, computers, or yard waste will be accepted. The cost is $15 for pickup truck loads and $10 for cars and vans. TVs and tires will be accepted at an added fee depending on the size. Residents may call the township office at 814-757-5818 for more information.

Forest County walk is May 22

The weather is turning and it’s time for a walk in the woods of Forest County. The Penn State Extenion will hold a walk at the Forest County 4-H Center — 170 4-H Road, Tionesta — starting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22. “As an effort to build appreciation for forests, the people who care for them, and the importance of tending to them, please join Penn State Extension for a Walk in the Woods,” Forest Resources Educator Scott Weikert said. “During the walk, we will discuss Tree I.D. and provide an introduction to forest ecology. You will learn the fundamentals of how the woods work, different tree species and their ID characteristics, and how forests develop and change over time.” There is a cost of $5 to participate and registration is required by calling (877) 345-0691 or visiting extension.psu.edu/get-to-know-the-woods-tree-id-and-intro-to-forest-ecology. AOC to ride and hike

The Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes on Thursday at Presque Isle State Park. The group will meet at 1 p.m. at the first park lot on the right inside the park. Pat Spice will lead the ride and can be reached in the evening with questions at (814) 757-8331. The group will also hike on Sunday, May 8, at Anders Run off of Dunns Eddy Road in Irvine. The hike was canceled last week due to the weather. Those participating are asked to meet at Musante St. at 1:30 p.m. or at the trailhead at 2 p.m. Linda Ross is the leader for the hike and can be reached with questions at (814) 726-3920 or (814) 688-5908.

Bridge results

Lynn Way and Richard Woodruff came in first on Monday evening at the YMCA with Sharon Rissell and Dave Benedict in second. Bill Massa and Connie Lucia were first and second Tuesday afternoon at the Allegheny Community Center. Thursday afternoon at the Woman’s Club, Susie Spangler placed first and Linda Jensen was second. Donna Holding rose to the top Friday afternoon at the Conewango Club and Connie Michell was second.
