3 year old receives Alphabet badge

Young people all over Warren County are reading through the alphabet.

Most recently, 3-year-old Liana Snyder received her Reading Through the Alphabet badge from the Warren Public Library.

The challenge is to read 26 different books — each counting toward a letter of the alphabet.

“To accomplish this challenge, readers can use author names or book titles for each letter,” Children’s Librarian Susan Slater said. “For example, Dog Man by Dav Pilkey could count towards the letter D, M, or P.”

“You may only use each book for one letter,” Slater said. “Families have been coming into the library to find different books to fulfill different letters of the alphabet and have been reporting that they enjoy the challenge.”

“If you have a child ages two through twelve, it’s not too late to take the challenge,” she said.

The challenge runs through Jan. 17. Forms are available at the library and through warrenlibrary.org.

Children who complete the challenge and turn in their forms before the deadline will be entered into a drawing and three will be chosen to receive $50 Walmart gift cards.
