1,000 Books For Bence

Library recognizes kid, 4, for reading ‘1,000 Books Before Kindergarten’

Photo submitted to Times Observer Bence Bierbower, flanked by his parents, Laura and Rich, is recognized by Warren Public Library with a T-shirt, medal, and certificate for completing the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

For some, reading 1,000 books would be a life-time accomplishment.

That’s true for Bence Bierbower. But, his life-time hasn’t been going on all that long.

Warren Public Library honored Bierbower, who is 4 years old, for completing the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

Bence’s mother, Laura, said the family started tracking his progress on the library’s Reader Zone app in November.

“Bence enjoyed watching his progress,” she said.

For reaching the goal, Bence was awarded a 1,000 Books T-shirt and a reading medal.

“He is well on his way to building a strong foundation for kindergarten,” Children’s Librarian Susan Slater said.

Pre-school children are welcome to join the challenge.

Information about the program can be found by visiting warrenlibrary.org/1000-books-before-kindergarten.

A grant from the Kiwanis Club of Warren provided funding to purchase the T-shirts for the program.
