Warren Garden Club to host annual plant sale

The Warren Garden Club will host its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Gen. Joseph Warren Park, Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren.

From vegetables to houseplants to herbs to perennials, the event is set up to be bigger and better than ever, according to Chairman Kris Whitaker and the plant sale committee.

“There will be vegetable plants for those shoppers who love a home-grown tomato along with other home grown vegetables and annuals for the shopper who can’t wait to get busy with their containers,” according to a Garden Club release. “Since perennials are the backbone of the perennial border there will be a nice selection of new perennials ready to go into the border.”

“Nothing makes a house a home like a houseplant,” according to the Garden Club. “Experienced gardeners will be available for lots of advice on how to keep them growing and healthy.

“Herbs make a nice grouping near the kitchen door to add flavor and color to the summertime menu,” according to the release. “A kitchen garden is a nice focal point for the back porch.”

All plants will be priced individually and identified with their name and care needs.

Information will be available on garden basics, pollinator gardening, seed starting, lasagna gardening, beneficial insects and more.

There will be a new Garden Flea Market, with items sold by donation, as part of this year’s sale.

COVID guidelines will be followed at the event. Participants are required to wear a mask and maintain social distance. Tables will be set up around the park to provide appropriate social distance. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available.

Proceeds from the plant sale will be used for Warren Garden Club Scholarship Fund.
