The recent fall of COVID-19 positive percentage cases in both Warren and parts of Forest counties has initiated reopening programming and in-house lunches.

COVID procedures for mask wearing unless eating are still mandatory. Activities are permitted if social distancing can be maintained. These restrictions are for senior citizens’ safety as well as the safety of staff.

Meals must be ordered two weeks in advance. Call the open center to order meals. Those who need to cancel their lunch can call the center and let staff know.

¯ Allegheny Community Center (814-723-4180) is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunches can be ordered with availability starting April 15.

¯ Endeavor — Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Call 814-463-7774.

¯ April 15 — tuna salad sandwich with lentil soup

¯ April 16 — baked chicken cutlet with scalloped potatoes

¯ April 19 — baked ham with sweet potatoes

¯ April 20 — spaghetti and meatballs

¯ April 21 – roast beef sandwich with roasted potatoes

¯ April 22 — chicken scaloppini with rice

¯ April 23 — turkey chef salad with soup

¯ April 26 — maple dijon salmon with orzo

¯ April 27 — kielbasa, sauerkraut and whipped potatoes

¯ April 28 — fiesta chicken salad with tortilla soup

¯ April 29 — roasted sliced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy

¯ April 30 — barbecue riblet with soup

GREENHOUSE PLANTS AND VEGETABLE

The volunteers at the greenhouse on the State Hospital grounds are gearing up to have plants and veggies available at excellent prices. The volunteers work for months to provide the plants and will be open May 1.

FREE VITA TAX SERVICE COMING TO A CLOSE

The last day to submit taxes for the free VITA Tax service is Wednesday, April 14.

The program is available annually to the entire community and is supported in part by community donations.
