McCain seeking GOP nod for council

Wendy McCain, executive director of Struthers Library Theater, has announced her candidacy for one of the three open seats for City Council on the Republican ticket.

She has more than 30 years of business experience. She is an educated and certified expert in business and organizational management. She earned a master’s in business administration, and is also a graduate of the prestigious Six Sigma Master Black Belt (statistical process improvement) program, plus has a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

In the early 1970s, she attended Jefferson Elementary and Beaty Middle School in Warren, while her father, the Rev. Richard Goss, was the assistant minister at First Presbyterian Church of Warren. She returned to Warren over six years ago with her husband, Jock T. McCain, Sergeant Major U.S. Army (Ret.), to be closer to her son and grandchildren who live in Jamestown.

The command focus of her campaign is very simple. She says, when elected, she will focus on the following:

¯ Re-energize downtown.

¯ Responsible spending.

¯ Revive local economy.

McCain learned self-reliance by putting herself through college while raising her son, Charlie. She wants to now put her life experiences to work for you, the residents of Warren.

Presently, she is giving back to the community by serving as vice chair of the Redevelopment Authority (RDA), an associate board member on the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry (WCCBI), and a Trestle to Trestle task force member. She has made a career out of “getting things done.”

The May 18 primary election is for the voters to elect three persons out of the Four presently running on the Republican ticket.

“I am humbly asking for your vote and support in the upcoming election. My personal promise to you,” she said, is “that when elected, I will fight full time for all Warren residents, from children to retirees and all those in between.”

Please vote Tuesday May 18.
