Zeybel seeking seat as county sheriff

Brian Zeybel said he is seeking election as Warren County sheriff.

Brian Zeybel has officially announced that he will seek election as Warren County sheriff.

Zeybel, a Republican, was appointed acting sheriff in January following Sheriff Ken Klakamp’s planned early retirement. Zeybel’s appointment, which was supported by the Warren County Republican Party and State Representative Kathy Rapp, lasts through 2021. He now seeks election to serve beyond this year.

“I am honored that I have received the appointment as sheriff and hope to have the privilege of serving through the next term. I want to put my experience, energy and dedication to work for the citizens of Warren County.”

Zeybel retired as a Corporal with the Pennsylvania State Police in late 2017. During most of his 25-year career with PSP Warren, Zeybel worked as a criminal investigator and polygraph operator. He led, investigated and solved many of the child abuse, homicide and other major cases in Warren County and surrounding areas.

More recently, Zeybel served as the Chief County Detective for the Warren County District Attorney’s office, where he successfully led the Warren County Drug Task Force. During this tenure, Zeybel assisted the chiefs and officers of local police departments with various assignments, training and investigations. Because of this collaboration, he has earned their respect and support.

As a police firearms instructor and a lifetime member of the NRA, Zeybel often volunteers his time to educate local groups about firearm safety. He is also active in local clubs and various fraternal organizations, including the regional bagpipe band that benefits the Shriner’s Hospital.

Zeybel resides in Warren with his wife Marcia. “I’ve lived here for 27 years and appreciate the wonderful people of the area. Now I’m asking for the opportunity to serve you as Sheriff.”
