Conservation District accepting applications for scholarships

The Warren County Conservation District is accepting applications for two conservation-related scholarships.

Warren County high school seniors and college students in environmental fields may apply for the Ralph G. Eckert Scholarship awarded by the conservation district.

“The Conservation District is proud to offer a scholarship in the name of Ralph Eckert, who served in the Soil Conservation Service in Warren County from 1950-1966,” according to a release from Watershed Specialist Jean Gomory. “This scholarship helps to promote love of the outdoors, and the conservation of natural resources through education.”

The scholarship is awarded to a student who plans to continue his or her education in a conservation-related field.

The conservation district also awards the Warren County Council of Sportsmen’s Clubs scholarship.

“This opportunity is available to high school seniors residing in Warren County who wish to enter college to pursue an environmental or conservation related degree,” according to the release.

Students may apply for both scholarships.

Additional information and application packages are available through the conservation district at 814-726-1441 or www.wcconservation.net and students are encourage to inquire at their high school’s guidance office.

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. March 1.
