The Youngsville Hometown Christmas Event is today from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be a “drive around town” event this year due to COVID.

Those who want to participate can download a copy of both the event driving map and Christmas scavenger hunt page from the homepage of the Youngsville Library website at YoungsvilleLibrary.org or through the Facebook event page Light Up Youngsville 2020 Christmas Festival. Those interested in driving around town to see the homes that have signed up for the Christmas light competition can go to the Facebook page for a list of addresses. Once people have successfully solved the secret message from the scavenger hunt page, they can submit their form for a chance to win a prize. See Scavenger Hunt page for details.

Please be sure to use the event map as a guide to make it to the hotspots around town and start at the location on the map closest to one’s house. The event map also explains which roads to use to enter and exit the key hotspots for this year’s event (i.e. to view the live nativity scene at the Youngsville Free Methodist church on Bates Street, they are asking people to travel up Bates Street from town, take a right onto College Street, and then a left onto Marsh Avenue to enter their parking lot). There are seven key hotspots on the event map as well as additional clue locations that are listed on the Scavenger Hunt page.

NEWEST LIBRARY ANGELS

Through Wednesday, Dec. 23, area residents can become a Library-Angel and make a general donation or a donation towards offsetting specific daily operating items such as toner, inter-library loan postage costs, youth programming, etc. Donors can also make donations In Memory of or In Honor of loved ones.

To become a Library Angel just stop by the Youngsville Library during business hours or visit the library’s homepage at YoungsvilleLibrary.org and click on the Library Angel Tree link. From the website donors can print and complete a downloadable form which can either be mailed to the library or placed in the library’s secure drop-box which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. On the website there is also a listing of library angels specifying if their donations are In Honor Of or In Memory of loved ones. Those who prefer can can mail their Library Angel donation (without a form) to: Youngsville Public Library c/o Library Angel Program, 100 Broad Street, Youngsville, PA 16371. Please be sure to include the name to be placed on the Angel (and if it is in memoriam or in honor of someone). Regular business hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Fridays from noon to 4 p.m.

A “Library-Angel” is placed on the Library-Angel tree with the name of the donor and if the donation was in honor of or in memory of an individual. LEGION’S KIDS’ CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Youngsville American Legion Christmas party for kids is Sunday, Dec. 13, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. This is a drive-through event. Drive by the legion pavilion and someone will deliver the gift to the child in the car. Children must be present in order to receive the gift. The last day to pre-register a child for the children Christmas party is today. Register children at the legion, for children or grandchildren of legion members. The legion open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
