Deerfield Behavioral Health announces new management

Deerfield Behavioral Health of Warren, an affiliate of Journey Health System, appointed Kim Thurston as its new executive director .

She comes into the position with experience in the clinical and administrative fields of behavioral health.

“Kim brings a wealth of behavioral health experience into the new role as Executive Director of Deerfield. She has held various positions throughout her 22 years at Journey Health and I look forward to seeing what she is able to accomplish in her new role at Deerfield,” said Guy Signor, president and CEO of Journey Health System.

Thurston has served in the capacity of clinical services consultant, school psychology pre-doctoral intern, director of quality assurance/compliance/outcomes, director of community and education programs, program director-community division and director of behavioral health rehabilitation services to name a few.

She received her B.S. in psychology from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Radford University in Radford, Va. After completion of an M.A. in School Psychology from Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y., she received an Advanced Certificate in School Psychology there.

Thurston also successfully defended her school psychology doctoral dissertation recently at Alfred University and will soon be a licensed doctoral-level psychologist. She is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist.

“I look forward to putting my administrative and clinical experience into action during my leadership role at Deerfield,” Thurston said. “The high-quality team of behavioral health providers and professionals has a real depth of experience that I look forward to working with, as we focus on expanding the vision of the agency.”

In addition, Deerfield promoted Sheri Greenland to the physician practice manager position. In her new role, Greenland will be responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Deerfield practices.

She is a practice manager with Deerfield as well as other practice groups.

Deerfield has office locations in Bradford, Erie, Marienville, State College, Tionesta and Warren. Its psychiatrists and nursing professionals serve individuals, social service agencies, skilled nursing facilities, tele-psychiatry partners and other health organizations on a direct or a contracted basis in diverse settings such as medical offices, outpatient clinics, inpatient hospital behavioral health units and substance abuse or dual diagnosis treatment centers.
