Historical Society awarded state grant funding

The Warren County Historical Society has received a state grant award.

The society was awarded funds through the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission’s Cultural and Historical Support grant program.

“The $4,000 state grant funding will be utilized for general operating support, an essential tool in the daily operations of the Warren County Historical Society,” Managing Director Michelle Gray said.

There is a significant string to the funds – county recognition.

“In order to be eligible to apply for the funding, the historical society must first be designated by the Warren County Commissioners as the county’s historical agency, a responsibility that the organization takes very seriously,” Gray said.

She emphasized that the funds help the Society maintain regular business as hours as well as “continuing to preserve Warren County’s artifacts, images, textiles and documents” as well as Historic District information and educational tools for the community.

Gray credited Society Treasurer Bob Duffy, who she said is “steadfast in the pursuit of funding to provide the organization with the necessary resources to preserve Warren County history.”

Gray said the society also appreciates the support of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and the county commissioners.
