The Elk Township Historical Society Library Ladies’ group and the Elk County Historical Society board from Scandia started a community project earlier this year. The “Warmth from Warren Project” was created to do something for local military through the Blue Stars Mothers organization. Money was collected from members, families and friends to pay for the project. Many people worked hard donating their time to make two-sided fleece blankets to thank those who are serving or are veterans of the the U.S. military. A total of 47 blankets were completed and turned over to the Blue Star Mothers for distribution recently.
