Starting The Year Off Right

Sanford Saddles and Spurs 4-H Club To Hold Achievement Night Nov. 12

Photo submitted to the Times Observer Pictured are Evelyn Ongley and her horse Laser who are in fourth place in the Ride Across the Keystone State Challenge.

The Sanford Saddles and Spurs 4-H club met recently outdoors at the Warren County Fair Grounds.

Bryceton Maille did an educational presentation on common horse feed ingredients. The group discussed some potential fundraisers to help raise money for an educational trip after COVID, and submitted its fundraiser recommendations to 4H for approval. The club is requesting approval to have an educational mounted 4-H meeting in November.

Leader Matt Maille distributed blank cards and envelopes asking each 4-H member to thank a first responder. The 4-H achievement night will be virtually this year on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. The achievement night will recognize 4-H members and leaders for their contributions throughout the 2019-20 4-H year.

Members signed up for presentations for the new 4-H year. Some members are competing in the Ride Across the Keystone State 4-H challenge, which is taking the place of the PA State Competitive Trail Ride this year. Members are also riding this fall and logging hours for the Hoof Hours Award as part of the Recreational Riding 4-H book.

Leader Heather Cass organized a harvest-themed craft that members created and took home with them. If anyone is interested in joining the Sanford Saddles and Spurs 4-H club, contact leaders Matt and Dianna Maille at 436-7778.
