Several Halloween events set in Y’Ville

HALLOWEEN EVENTS

Halloween in the Youngsville Borough will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Please remember to practice social distancing and other safety measures as much as possible.

Youngsville’s Sons of the American Legion will be distributing free Halloween goodie-bags to kids from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. There will be a tent on the front lawn of the Youngsville American Legion.

A free “Trunk or Treat” event will be held at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church,179 Davis St., on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. There will both indoor and outdoor events. Trick-or-treating will be held indoors along with some games. There will also be wagon rides, food at the pavilion, and a campfire outside. The church is in need of fun-sized candy donations for this event. Candy donations can be dropped off in the church lobby, which is open until 8 p.m. There will be a labeled tote for the candy donations.

FREE COMMUNITY MEALS

Free community meals are offered each Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis St. The menu Oct. 28 includes soup (Zuppa or potato), salad and bread. The Nov. 4 menu is meatloaf, mashed potatoes and a vegetable. Menus are subject to change without notice; for information visti YBFree.org. Volunteers are needed to help with these meals. There is a sign-up sheet located in the church lobby. Volunteers are not obligated to assist every week, just when available. Volunteers are needed to help serve and clean up afterwards. FUEL Youth Group for youth in sixth grade and above meets Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church. Youth do not have to attend every week. FUEL does not meet when there is no school.

HOMETOWN CHRISTMAS

The Youngsville Hometown Christmas event will be on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. Due to COVID regulations, this year will be a drive-through event. The committee is still in the process of putting plans together but wants people to know that they would like to light up Youngsville like it’s never been lit for Christmas before.

Residents are encouraged to decorate (there will be prizes awarded) and they will be selling luminaries to light on Dec. 5. Mark your calendars. More details to come.

BORO LEAF PICK UP SCHEDULE

The Youngsville Borough Leaf Pick up Schedule has started. Please rake leaves to the curb. Do not rake into the street. Please, no stones. Bundle sticks and branches and pile separately from leaves. Monday: Railroad, East Main, Davis, College, Orchard, Oak, and Church streets. Tuesday: Woodard, Poplar, Ford IOOF, Marsh, Bates, and Pleasant streets. Wednesday: Brown Hill, Water, Mill, Highland, Second, West Main, Old Pittsfield, High, Broad, Beckenwood, and Sonia streets. Thursday: 3rd to 9th, Dillion, Division, North Main, Yucha, McGraw, Spring, Hillside, LaVerne streets. Friday: areas no completed on assigned days. GARLAND VFD BINGO OPEN TO PUBLIC

Monday, Nov. 2, the Garland Fire Hall is having Bingo. Doors open at 4 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6 p.m. A $30 donation is for all one can play on regular card. There will also be a “Cover All Jackpot, ($1,180 in 59 numbers or less)” Power Ball ($174 plus), dual dab and more. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Kitchen specials: bacon cheeseburger and cheesy fries.
