Senior Center To Host Halloween Bingo, Tai Chi And Genealogy Classes

To allow for sufficient time to clean the center prior to use each day, the centers shall operate with the following reduced hours:

Allegheny Community Center: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Endeavor: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Marienville: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tidioute: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Sheffield: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

CAPACITY LIMITS

While we are still having programs and activities it is limited to the capacity levels required by the state. Reservations for activities are necessary.

Each center shall limit the number of individuals (including members, staff, providers, and volunteers) in each center at any given time in order to ensure safe distancing. Each center varies in square footage and physical layout. Accordingly, each center will be limited to a maximum of 30% of the ordinary maximum capacity.

Please remember to reserve your lunch a week or more in advance. Lunch to go is also available.

SENIOR EXPO

The Eldercare Council of Forest-Warren Counties has partnered with the Warren Times Observer to bring you an alternative to the in-person Sr. Expo normally held the last Friday in October.

Look for the upcoming Sr. Expo. insert on October 24. Read about vendor services from vendors you normally see at the Sr. Expo.

Bloodwork is available to be drawn the week of Oct. 26-30 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bloodwork will be free of charge to the first 200 registrants.

Those interested in having bloodwork drawn, register by contacting Stacy Donovan at Warren General Hospital at 723-4973, ext. 1781 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration is required by Oct. 21.

HALLOWEEN BINGO

Come and join us for no tricks but all treats on Oct. 28 at 12:45 p.m. at the Allegheny Community Center. There will be bingo, prizes, giveaways and light refreshments. Capacity limits apply and pre-registration is required. Call 723-4180, ext. 13 to reserve a seat.

TIA CHI CLASSES

Do you need better balance? Think Tia Chi. Do you want a beneficial low impact workout that is easy to practice at home? Think Tia Chi. As the winter settles in and you can’t get out and walk safely but still want to exercise. Think Tia Chi. Staff member Lynda Baxter is a certified instructor. Tia Chi is offered Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Allegheny Community Center. Classes are free. Call 814-723-3237 to pre-register.

ELECTION NIGHT DINNER

The Kiwanis 64th annual Election night, Nov. 3, spaghetti drive through take-out dinner will be held at the Allegheny Community Center. Ticket are available at the center. The Allegheny Community Center offers their kitchen as a venue to help further the good work that the Kiwanis Club does in the community.

GENEALOGY CLASS

Do you have questions about your ancestors that have gone unanswered, or would you like to find out more about your family heritage? The Allegheny Community Center continues to host a beginner’s genealogy class on Wednesdays from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. where we will solve mysteries from the past and gain information on how to achieve the best results when researching our Ancestors. Due to COVID restrictions, space is limited, so call the center at 814-723-4180 for a reservation. The class is free and open to anyone 18 and over.
