Warren man run over in apparent road rage

A reported road rage incident has resulted in one man being taken to Warren General Hospital and two others to Warren County Jail.

Chad Nudd, 49, and Nolan Nudd, 19, both of Warren, each face charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, failing to stop and render aid, and stalking. Chad Nudd also faces accidents involving death or personal injury, reckless driving, and careless driving.

City of Warren Police were called to the scene of a vehicle-pedestrian crash at 7 p.m. Friday on West Fifth Avenue.

According to police, Chad Nudd was driving a truck in which Nolan Nudd was a passenger and were involved in an incident that apparently started as road rage in North Warren.

Police said the Nudds followed a man in a vehicle to a Fifth Avenue address in the City of Warren.

There, the father of the man being followed intervened, stepping between the two parties, according to police.

That man — the alleged victim — and his son told police that Chad Nudd drove the vehicle toward him and that Nolan Nudd opened the passenger door, striking the man and knocking him to the ground.

“Once on the ground, the front tires ran over his right hand and wrist,” the alleged victim told police. He “explained that once the front tires went over his hand, he clenched up and the rear tires ran over his right side of his chest, barely missing his face.”

The alleged victim “stated that he thought he was going to die once he was run over,” police said.

The man was taken to Warren General Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Both the man and his son identified Chad and Nolan Nudd from a photo lineup, police said.

Police said Chad Nudd owns a vehicle that matches the description of the one described by witnesses and that Nudd’s vehicle was found at their Sill Street home.

Shortly before midnight of the same day, police responded to the Hickory Street Kwik Fill. According to a witness, the victim’s son was in the store talking about the incident. As he left, Chad and Nolan Nudd enter the store, apparently looking for the driver of a white car that had been in the parking lot, according to police.

Police said video evidence showed a white sedan being followed by a truck matching the description of Chad Nudd’s on Market Street in the City of Warren about four minutes before police were called to the accident site.

Chad Nudd and Nolan Nudd were arraigned separately before District Justice Raymond Zydonik on Monday. Preliminary hearings are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23.

Both Chad and Nolan Nudd were taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $100,000 bail.
